6 tips to help manage your workload successfully

Working from home is becoming the new normal nowadays. But how many of us can truthfully say that we have it nailed. When I started working from home full time back in May, I can honestly say that I had no idea of what I was doing. However, with some careful planning and reorganising I have managed to make working from home a successful endeavour. Below are the 6 ways that helped me manage my workload and kick the overwhelm to the kerb.

1/ I wrote a to do list. I have a notepad next to me while I am working so that I can write down things that come to mind that are either important or a good idea. (I have a notepad and stickers pack in my Etsy shop, check them out here: Memo pad and sticker pack ) This to do list is important so that I can transfer it to my planner at the end of the day as tasks to get done, which brings us to tip number 2.

2/ I schedule my workload in a planner. I created my own printable work from home planner that I now use everyday. (Get yours here: Printable Planner) It is where I keep everything I need to know about my business like my daily schedule etc and I can see at a glance each day what I am working on.


3/ I keep everything in one place so that I don’t get distracted looking for things and lose focus. So everything is in my office at my desk and all my information is in my planner.

4/ I plan my day the evening before. I always plan a day in advance so that when I start work I can start straight away without having to figure out what I should work on for that day. At the end of every workday I fill out next day’s schedule. This has been one of the most useful tips of all of them for me because it gets it all out of my head and I can relax at the end of the night.

5/ I do all the important tasks first. Prioritising your workload is so important. By getting all the demanding and difficult tasks done first can be so rewarding and you will feel a sense of relief when you tick them off your list. I tend to stick to just three important tasks per day and then hit the smaller ones one by one. Less stress, which is a win win for me.

6/ I avoid multi-tasking. This has always been my downfall in the past. I would be working on something like writing a blog post but checking my social media notifications at the same time. But now I devote my full attention to one task at a time and I get things done quicker and much better.
