7 reasons to create a vision board

1/ All your goals can be seen in one place

In the past, I used to write all my goals down in notebooks. I would get all excited after getting them onto paper. However, as the days passed by, the enthusiasm would wither away to nothing and I would get caught up in my mundane life again.

Until I discovered the power of the vision board that is.

Now, when I write my goals out, I also turn them into visual representations.

Seeing them displayed and hanging up where I can see them on a daily basis has made a massive improvement.

2/ Visualising your goals is more powerful than just writing them down.

Yes, writing them down is all well and good and an important step but you need to see yourself achieving them and living the life you desire. The images you use on your vision board will tell a story: a story of the new chapters that are ready to unfold.

When you look at these images you will be able to visualise yourself doing it, living it, having it etc. Your brain will start believing what you are showing it and the universe will start nudging you and leaving breadcrumb trails for you to follow.

3/ A vision board forces you to think about what it is you really want out of life.

Just before I start to create a vision board I get a notepad and start writing. I make a list of all the areas in my life, regardless if they need working on or not. So my list would look something like this:

  • Health
  • Wealth
  • Career
  • Love and relationships
  • Family and friends
  • Travel
  • Home

Once I have got this list I ask a series of questions for each area.

Questions like:

  • “Are you happy with your health right now?”
  • “If no, then what are you unhappy about?”
  • “What changes do you want to make if any?”

After I have answered as many questions I can think of, I can either create one big vision board, working on all areas of my life, pick out maybe three areas to work on or just choose one area to work on. Whichever I choose, I can then start collecting images, quotes and any affirmations that are compatible with my goal.

4/ A vision board helps you step out of your comfort zone

So let’s say that you have created a vision board and one of the areas you want to work on is love and relationships. You have decided that it is about time that you started dating again to find that ideal partner. Creating the board has helped you to visualise the sort of person you want to share your life with and the lifestyle you want to enjoy together. Now you have to be prepared to step out of that comfort zone and do some work.

How are you going to find your partner? Did you include online dating on your board? If you did then you are going to have to find the right online dating app that works for you. Plus you will have to write a great profile and upload a recent image of yourself in order to attract some potential dates.

Come to think of it, I think that might be an area of my life that needs addressing.

5/ A vision board will give you a daily reminder of what you want

Where you put your vision board is crucial for the success of your goals. You want to hang it in a place where you will be able to see it every single day. I have one in my bedroom and two in my office. I look at them all the time. Every time I pass them, I have a really good look and feel all the feelings, all the emotions as if they have already come true.

6/ you will be emotionally connected to your vision board

You’ve collected the images, found some great quotes and affirmations that are in line with your goals and while you have been creating the board you have felt all kinds of positive emotions. You feel confident that the universe is going to grant all your wishes. You have a thrilling vision of your new future.

These emotions stay with you each time you look at your board and they get bigger and you get more excited. It is your baby and you want to see it grow. Each day brings you closer to all your dreams and it feels amazing.

7/ Creating a vision board is so much fun

Don’t we all need to inject a bit of fun into our lives? Especially with the way 2020 has panned out. Switching off from all the troubles in the world now and again is beneficial for your sanity. When I am creating a vision board, I forget about my worries and concerns for a moment. I get excited about my future and the possibilities that are available to me. I love creating new chapters and happy-ever-afters. It is like an addiction. I just can’t get enough of it.
