Louise Hay nailed it when she wrote:
“Every thought you think and every word you speak is an affirmation. All our self-talk, our internal dialogue, is a stream of affirmations. You’re using affirmations every moment whether you know it or not. You’re affirming and creating your life experiences with every word or thought.” ~Louise Hay
Reading that for the first time blew my mind and eventually changed my life.
Throughout my childhood I was teased, told I was no good, that I would never become anyone worth knowing and I would never be clever enough. All this coming from my own father. My mother was full of negativity towards me and so were my sisters.
These negative and hurtful remarks had a profound effect on me and it took me a long time to realise that it just wasn’t true.
I am not perfect. I still have the occasional moments of self-doubt, insecurities and fear but I am constantly working on them and improving my life.
Using affirmations ever day has given me so much value and they have benefited me immensely.
These wonderful little phrases can rewire your brain and release you from negative thinking.
At first your mind will not believe what you are saying, but by repeating your affirmations daily and as much as you can, your mind will start believing you.
Constant repetition will programme your mind. Just like when you were a child and you got programmed by all that negative talk towards you. You know, those things you were told when you had done something “wrong”, Like “you are so stupid, why did you go and do that for?” “Why can’t you do anything properly.” So wrong on so many levels. you became to believe these words and so did your subconscious mind.
You can make up your own affirmations or you can search the internet for some great ones. Here are a few of my favourites that I use every day:
- I am worthy of an amazing life
- I attract magnificent things to me
- I have an abundant bank account
- my life is magical and full of riches
If you find an affirmation that jumps out at you, then write it down and repeat it daily until it becomes a natural process and forms a habit.
You will soon realise that if you commit to saying your affirmations over and over again, they will begin to take charge of your thoughts and eventually change your life forever.
